Dr. Ian Patrick Sobieski
Labrador's Seed Program is designed to provide seed capital to information technology companies on the West coast that are early in their development and seek to build value prior to a major venture financing. Our seed efforts are run by Dr. Ian Patrick Sobieski, Managing Director & Coordinator of the Band of Angels, the oldest and most prominent angel organization in the US. A portion of our current fund, Labrador Ventures V, is reserved for $100K to $500K seed investments made in conjunction with the Band of Angels. The total size of these syndicated seed rounds typically ranges from $500K to $3 million.

This relationship between Labrador Ventures and The Band of Angels leverages the Band's exclusive membership of more than 100 successful high tech executives for deal flow, due diligence and entrepreneur mentoring. This unique program, combined with our 16 years of company building experience, differentiates Labrador as the partner of choice in seed and early stage technology investing on the West coast.

Dr. Sobieski holds a Ph.D. and M.S. in Aeronautics from Stanford University, a B.A. degree in Philosophy and a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering from Virginia Tech. He is the author of a dozen technical publications and is an appointed Lecturer in the Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology at the University of California at Berkeley, where he teaches a course in Entrepreneurial Finance.

Dr. Sobieski has managed more than 40 direct investments totaling $30 million, has served on eighteen boards of directors, and currently serves on three.
